Atlanta punk band New Junk City have announced their fourth full-length album, Where Could I Go?, due November 6 via Lauren Records, and shared its lead single “Lonely Now” streaming below.
Written over roughly two years, the 12-song album takes on the messier realities of love — making room for someone else’s grief, the compromises demanded by work and relationships, and accepting personal shortcomings without allowing them to turn into resentment. Where Could I Go? was recorded at Standard Electric with longtime collaborator Damon Moon and produced by Tyler Bisson.
Lead single “Lonely Now” centers on a relationship defined by absence and repeated letdowns, with the band describing the song as being about “putting up boundaries and accepting the new reality of a relationship without retaliating or feeling the need to push back.”
Formed in 2013. New Junk City's songs pair heart-on-sleeve writing with sharp, melodic hook-filled punk edge, drawing on influences that range from The Weakerthans and Fucked Up to Green Day; the band has also jokingly embraced the description “Tom Petty as played by Green Day.”
