When you register for or use our services, we may collect the following information:

• Account information. Your name, email address, and profile image from your Google account when you sign in with Google.
• Newsletter sign-ups. The email address you provide to join our mailing list.
• Liner Notes listening stats. If you publish a Liner Notes page, the listening statistics your browser computes from your Spotify export (see "Liner Notes" below). Never the export itself.
• User-generated content. Comments, reviews, and any other content you choose to submit to the Service.
• Usage and device data. Information automatically collected when you visit the Service, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring pages, typically via cookies and similar technologies.

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To authenticate you and manage your account.
• To send you newsletters and updates you have opted in to receive, and to allow you to opt out at any time.
• To display comments, reviews, and other content you submit.
• To protect the Service against spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some parts of the Service may not function properly as a result.

We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf or provide content you interact with, and each has its own privacy practices:

• Google — authentication (sign in with Google).
• Spotify — embedded music players and playlists.
• Last.fm — genre tags for artists on Liner Notes pages. We send artist names only, never anything about you.
• Google reCAPTCHA — spam and abuse protection.
• Email delivery providers — sending transactional and newsletter emails.
• Hosting & storage providers — running the Service and storing uploaded media.

We do not sell your personal information.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in each email. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

We take data security seriously and implement reasonable measures to protect your personal information. However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

Liner Notes turns the listening history you request from Spotify into a page on Release Wave. Here is exactly what happens to it:

• Your export stays on your device. The zip Spotify sends you is opened and read inside your browser. It is never uploaded. IP addresses and countries in the export are never read.
• Last.fm, if you add it. If you enter your Last.fm username, your browser reads your scrobbles directly from Last.fm and merges them with your export on your device. The scrobbles are never sent to Release Wave. We store your Last.fm username (so it is filled in next time) and the date you connected it. By default your page shows it, linked to your Last.fm profile. Untick “Show my Last.fm username” when you publish, or hide it later from your page. Clear it and publish again to remove it.
• We store only the finished stats. When you publish, we save the numbers on your page: hours per month and year, your top artists per month and top tracks per year, the artists you played with their play counts, hours, first and last listen and top tracks, your most-played tracks, streaks, the device types you listened on, and a weekday-by-hour chart. Individual plays, podcasts and private sessions are left out. The stats are kept in our database and our file storage provider.
• Your page is public unless you change it. Pages are published at releasewave.com/liner-notes/your-username and can appear in search engines. You can make your page unlisted (visible only to people with the link, not indexed), and "Hide when I listen" removes the weekday-by-hour chart and shows dates as months only.
• AI assistants can read public pages. The same stats can be read through our AI assistant connector (see "AI Assistant Connector"), for example to suggest concerts or playlists from your history. It only returns what your page shows, follows "Hide when I listen", reaches an unlisted page only with its exact username, and stops working for your page as soon as you delete it.
• Genres. Artist genres and similar artists come from Release Wave's own catalog or from Last.fm. For these, only artist names are sent to Last.fm.
• Deleting. You can delete your Liner Notes from your page or your settings at any time. That removes the page, its stats and your username right away. Deleting your Release Wave account deletes them too.

Release Wave offers a public connector that lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude look up our music catalog on your behalf. It is anonymous and read-only:

• No login, no account. The connector requires no sign-in and does not ask for or receive any personal information from you or your AI assistant.
• Published data only. It returns the same public catalog information available on this website — artists, releases, and related metadata — and the stats shown on published Liner Notes pages. It never exposes private data, accounts, comments, reviews, or email addresses.
• Read-only. The connector can search and describe music, but cannot create, change, or delete anything on the Service.
• No tracking. It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you. Our hosting provider may record standard, transient server logs (such as IP address) for security and reliability, as described in "Third-Party Services".

Your use of ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI assistant to reach the connector is governed by that provider's own privacy policy, not ours.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the revised policy on our website or by other means if required by applicable law.
