Semaphore is a Brooklyn-based post-shoegaze band known for blending the atmospheric, moody sounds of shoegaze with the heaviness and urgency of post-hardcore. Led by Siddhu Anandalingam, their music combines elements of shoegaze, emo, post-hardcore, and heavy guitar fueled alt-rock, fusing elements of My Bloody Valentine, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Glassjaw into an eclectic sound. Semaphore is set to release their new album "I Need A Reason To Stay" on March 24th, with the lead single "Smother" drawing inspiration from Foo Fighters and Balance and Composure. The Brooklyn-based quartet blends shoegaze, post-hardcore, and classical elements, aiming to create sophisticated and inviting music for their audience.

The 11-track record arrives October 10, 2026 through Candlepin Records. Recorded and mixed by Brian DiMeglio at Brooklyn Recording Paradise and mastered by Adam Cichocki at Timber Studios, Despite What You Say pushes Semaphore’s dense shoegaze atmosphere into a heavier, more direct strain of alternative rock and post-hardcore.
“Bunny” gives the first look at that shift, balancing blown-out guitars and melodic hooks with the kind of tension and weight that should land with fans of Drug Church, Chokecherry and The Joy Formidable.
