Sincere Engineer is an American punk rock and emo band from Chicago, Illinois, led by singer-songwriter Deanna Belos. Formed in 2013 as a solo acoustic project, Belos famously bypassed a career in dentistry to pursue music full-time in the city's DIY folk-punk scene. The project evolved into a permanent four-piece powerhouse in 2017 after collaborating with local producer Matt Jordan. Backed by Kyle Geib (guitar), Nick Arvanitis (bass), and Adam Beck (drums), the band has earned critical acclaim for their raw, self-deprecating lyricism, gritty vocals, and infectious pop-punk melodies.Over a decade of continuous growth, the group transitioned from Red Scare Industries to powerhouse label Hopeless Records, building a celebrated discography that includes Rhombithian (2017), Bless My Psyche (2021), Cheap Grills (2023), and Probable Claws (2026), the latter recorded at Chicago’s legendary Electrical Audio studio. Known for a heavy touring ethic alongside genre pillars like The Menzingers and Hot Mulligan, Sincere Engineer is a staple of the modern punk landscape. In 2025, Belos chronicled the band's independent journey in the self-made documentary, Nobody's Gonna Do It For You: Ten Years of Sincere Engineer.
