Define Happiness
Brooklyn Comic
August 8, 2025Brooklyn Comic, an alternative emo band from Sydney, Australia will release their debut LP titled "Define Happiness" on August 8, 2025. Their debut LP is a ten-track exploration of what it means to survive, heal, and redefine yourself in the wake of trauma, grief, and transformation. From the seething aftermath of toxic love in "Plot Heavy" to the existential doubt of "Easier Said", the album kicks off with a 1-2 punch and captures the complexity of creating art outside of pain. "The Forest and Friends Like Us" tenderly examine love and loss — one as a leap into vulnerability with a life partner, the other as a tribute to Matthew Perry’s battle with addiction and the ache of never feeling enough.
Themes of identity and injustice rise in "Made For Someone Else" and "Lost Cause", tackling trans experience and the damaging consequences of weaponized status. "Seeing Red" is a desperate plea to protect someone from repeating your past mistakes, while "Chemically:" and ":Imbalanced" form a devastating two-part elegy for a friend lost to suicide — grappling first with the silence, then the aftermath. But the album closes with "Happy Again", a hard-won truth: that happiness isn’t found in others, but in the choice to find peace within.
Define Happiness is more than a collection of songs — it’s a statement of survival expressed through loud blistering layers of guitars, quiet to loud dynamics, emotive heart-on-your-sleeve vocals, and monster anthemic hooks.
