Red Static Action (Reissue)
By: Fire In The Radio
Fire In The Radio is set to release the reissue of their debut album, Red Static Action, on January 16 through Wednesday Records. This reissue features two previously unreleased tracks, 'Hide the Knives' and 'Prairie,' marking a new chapter for the band. The album has been remastered, with the bonus tracks also receiving a remix by Jesse Gander, known for his work with Japandroids and White Lung. The band, hailing from Philadelphia, has been described as a blend of indie rock and emo, drawing influences from bands like Jawbreaker and Bob Mould. The roots of Fire In The Radio trace back to the early 2000s when Rich Carbone and Jonathan Miller first connected over their shared love for 90's indie rock. After recruiting bassist Edward Olsen and drummer Adam Caldwell, the band began to carve out their sound, which was captured in their initial recording sessions. Their debut album, originally intended as a demo, gained traction and found its way to college radio and various press outlets, even landing on Abercrombie & Fitch's Top 10 playlist. Years later, after a hiatus, the band reunited and decided to revisit their early work. With the help of Inner Ear studios, they recorded new material that would accompany the reissue of Red Static Action. This album not only showcases their early energy but also highlights their evolution as musicians, with the new tracks serving as a testament to their growth and perseverance in the music scene. RIYL: Jawbreaker, Superchunk, Bob Mould, Samiam
