Pyramid Scheme of Grief
The Carolyn
October 3, 2025It's been two years since The Carolyn released Harmful History - a three-song EP that includes a fantastic cover of "Salvation" by The Cranberries. The Atlanta-based trio write the kind of heart-on-your-sleeve punk that launched the careers of bands such as The Gaslight Anthem and The Menzingers. However, in the spirit of Joyce Manor, The Carolyn keep their anthemic songs mostly under the two-minute mark. Their upcoming album, Pyramid Scheme of Grief, is eleven tracks of fine-tuned indie-punk and clocks in at around nineteen minutes. They've also released a duo of singles titled "White Russians" (feat. The Punk Cellist) and "And the Infinite Void" (feat. Tony of Tired Radio) that showcases the exceptional songwriting The Carolyn bring to their third album. "These two songs contain the "mission statement" of the album; both very much embrace malaise and disappointment." - Andrew Patrick (guitar/vocals).
The Carolyn makes melodic punk for overthinkers, underachievers, and anyone barely keeping it together. The Atlanta-based trio’s third LP, Pyramid Scheme of Grief, is filled with unresolved feelings and the kind of choruses you loop while rethinking your life choices. Out via 59 X / Disconnect Disconnect Records on October 3rd, the album is (probably) the band’s best yet and with no song over 2 minutes and thirty seconds. Fans of The Menzingers, The Gaslight Anthen, Lawrence Arms, Spanish Love Songs or any other sad drinking music will feel right at home with this release.
