German shoegaze/alt-rockers ENTROPY unveil their latest single and video for 'King of Rain' from upcoming sophomore album "Dharmakāya." A fusion of anthemic alt-rock, post-hardcore, and shoegaze, "King of Rain" blends anthemic alternative rock with somber undertones urging resilience amidst adversity while acknowledging struggles. Its big chorus and jangly guitars evoke Creation Records' prime era akin to 90s greats Sugar, Teenage Fanclub and Oasis. Yet it resonates with contemporary bands like Anxious, Fiddlehead,, Narrow Head and Alvvays channeling Entropy's post-hardcore and shoegaze roots through forceful delivery and a wall-of-sound aesthetic. German melodic grungegaze rockers Entropy will be releasing their sophomore LP "Dharmakāya" on August 30, 2024, showcasing a blend of emotionally charged melodic vocals and jangly guitars, paired with layers of heavy distortion and monster hooks, reminiscent of their Britpop influences mixed with their 90s post-hardcore, alternative rock and shoegaze roots. The album features catchy tunes like “King of Rain” and “Americans (Will Save You in the End)” that hearken back to 90s bands like Sugar while still drawing parallels to more current bands like Hotline TNT, Nothing and Alvvays. Heavier moments can be found in lead-off single "Papered Over Some" with its Helmet meets Quicksand like riffage, while still maintaining it's dreamy melodic soundscape. Recorded in Germany and mastered in New York, the album explores themes of dating, mental health, and spirituality, referencing thinkers like Peter Rollins and Robert Pírsig.
