Joyer share their new album "On the Other End of the Line..." via Julia's War Recordings
East Coast indie rock duo Joyer, the project of brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan, are excited to share their fourth studio album, On The Other End of the Line…, available everywhere now via beloved tastemaker label Julia’s War Recordings. Across ten songs, the band revels in a newfound experimental edge, insulating internal monologues in layers of fuzz and twang. “Favorite,” premieres via Under the Radar today with driving guitars and distant vocals, channeling a sense of tender vulnerability that lingers beneath the surface. The official visualizer accompanying the track features abstract visuals from Nara Avakian with static overlays, reflecting the song’s introspective tone and heartfelt lyricism.
"Coming off of our last album, our schedule for the year was starting to fill up with different tours and things, but we knew we wanted to carve out some time to record again, so we booked studio time before we really had a lot written for this album," Nick Sullivan says. "It was a different approach for us and ultimately made for a cool experience, but it was definitely an adjustment for me. 'Favorite' came out of some of my frustrations in songwriting and how short the lifespan of a song can feel in the way music is consumed now, but ultimately how it's my favorite thing to do despite all that."
On The Other End of the Line… was recorded at Palisade Studios in Chicago and produced by Slow Pulp’s Henry Stoehr. “Cure” heralded the announcement of the upcoming LP, which name-dropped the record’s title across twinkling and twangy guitars, expressing curiosity and compassion for the tiny moments that bind the world together. An official music video for “Cure” accompanied the track’s release, immersing its viewers in a hazy, yellow-tinted New York City. The nostalgia-invoking video features the band performing on a rooftop among scenic shots of the city, pigeons, laundry, and various everyday sights. Similar to the track, the video shines light on the small moments in someone’s life and how impactful those moments can be.
“Spell” arrived in August with a chugging lead guitar riff, soundtracking a tumultuous relationship with a heartfelt approach. A live video of “Spell” accompanied the release, showcasing the band’s tight performance of the new song. “Glare of the Beer Can” followed with an official visualizer, which recalls flashes of the past over slightly twangy guitars and propulsive drums. “At The Movies” is one of Joyer’s most recent previews of their upcoming album, blending jangly guitars and hazy melodies. The accompanying visualizer of surreal landscapes and creatures accentuates the track’s theme of finding solace in cinematic escape.
Album is now streaming everywhere along with the videos for the pre-released singles.
