Minneapolis trio Prize Horse have announced their signing to Closed Casket Activities and released “The Big Picture,” the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore LP.

Blending elements of grunge, shoegaze, alternative rock and emo, Prize Horse have steadily built a following since their earliest singles in 2021. Following their 2022 EP Welder and 2024 debut full-length Under Sound, the band has performed at Sound & Fury Festival and shared stages with Superheaven, Glitterer, Greet Death and Chat Pile.

“The Big Picture” finds the band heading in a darker, more brooding direction, culminating in one of their heaviest passages to date.

The band explains that the song was the first written for the upcoming record, with demos dating back to 2023. Lyrically, it deals with days when everything seems to go wrong and even ordinary decisions feel overwhelming. The band considers it a fitting introduction to the next LP.

Prize Horse will also hit the road for a run of U.S. dates in October alongside Graham Hunt, followed by a UK and European tour in December with Spite House.

Further details about the new album are expected soon. Stream “The Big Picture” below.
