Dan Keyes (Recover, Young Love) Signs to Equal Vision Records, Shares "Never Bored"

Dan Keyes has signed to Equal Vision Records, and he's marked it by releasing "Never Bored" — his first single under his own name in six years, out today with an official music video.

Keyes will be a familiar name to anyone who spent the early 2000s in a van or a basement. He fronted Austin post-hardcore outfit Recover, whose Rodeo & Picasso landed on Fueled By Ramen in 2001 and who toured with Jimmy Eat World, Thrice, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria. He then moved to New York and started Young Love, the dance-rock project Island Records signed in 2005 and which produced "Discotech" and Too Young to Fight It.

"Never Bored" was produced by Courtney Ballard, whose credits include All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer, Tori Kelly and Jessie J. Keyes co-wrote it with Vincent Perini and recorded it with Ballard and Danny Wood.

"It is a song about acting too cool for school," Keyes said of the track. He described it as a rock song carrying the DNA of the music he grew up on — emo, punk, pop punk, post-punk, hardcore and post-hardcore — and said he hoped it would get people pumped.

Equal Vision says Keyes' debut album for the label will be announced in the coming weeks. Watch the video and stream "Never Bored" below.
