
Idlewild
Idlewild is a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995. They are known for their evolution from early punk-influenced sound to more melodic and experimental art rock styles including influences from R.E.M, The Replacements, The Smiths, Fugazi and everything in between. The band's lineup has seen some changes, with Roddy Woomble (vocals), Rod Jones (guitar), Colin Newton (drums), and Bob Fairfoull (bass) being the core members. Idlewild's discography includes nine studio albums, showcasing their diverse sonic landscape and willingness to explore new sounds, with a 10th LP slated for fall of 2025.

October 3, 2025The Scottish alternative rock band Idlewild is set to release their new self-titled album on October 3rd via V2 Records. The new LP marks their 10th studio LP and first in six years. The album will feature 10 brand new songs, including lead off single, 'Stay Out Of Place,' which showcases their signature warmth and melodic immediacy, blending influences from their indie and punk roots to recent art-pop explorations. Produced by Rod Jones and the band, the album reflects their evolution over the years while celebrating their established sound through a mix of big ideas and memorable tunes, that are all very much Idlewild.
