Protomartyr have announced their seventh album, Hotel Usona, out September 25, 2026 via Domino. The Detroit post-punk band have also shared the record’s lead single, “Sounds We Cannot Hear,” accompanied by a video starring Nate Varrone.

Recorded with Dave Fridmann at Tarbox Road Studios in western New York, Hotel Usona imagines the United States as an aging hotel, with each song opening onto a room occupied by its own troubled guest. Greg Ahee co-produced the album and drew on Middle Eastern music and 1950s exotica while shaping its arrangements, with Fridmann’s son Jon contributing horns.

“Sounds We Cannot Hear” centers on the slow paralysis and constant distortion of modern life, setting Joe Casey’s writing against the band’s tense, physical post-punk. Iggy Pop described the album as highly themed, symphonic, and “Wagnerian” in reach.

Protomartyr have shared “Feed the Sewer,” the second single from their forthcoming seventh album, Hotel Usona, out September 25 via Domino.

The Detroit post-punk band turn their attention to artificial intelligence on the track, pairing Joe Casey’s characteristically bleak, sardonic writing with one of the record’s loudest and most ominous arrangements. Casey describes the song as being about the belief that “people are often willing to destroy the world in exchange for convenience,” adding that the music is “very loud, like a data center.”

“Feed the Sewer” arrives with a video directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia, built around themes of loneliness and surveillance. The motel setting mirrors the larger concept behind Hotel Usona, which imagines the country as an aging hotel with each song occupying a different troubled room.
