Recollection

Recollection began as a collaboration between vocalist Josh Hynes of Rude Awakening and Hammer Bros and guitarist Joshua Long, whose credits include Skinhead, Criminal Instinct, Rude Awakening and Hammer Bros. Formed while the two were processing the loss of a friend, the band first surfaced in 2025 with the Vivid Dreams EP through Pop Wig.

Now rounded out by bassist G of Hammer Bros and The World, drummer Snooka of Life’s End, guitarist Matt March of Hard Ca$h and guitarist Joe Bradshaw of Stab, Recollection pull their hardcore roots into a more vulnerable strain of melodic, cathartic indie rock. Their four-song Intrusive Thoughts EP arrives August 28, 2026 through DAZE, moving between anxiety, grief, adulthood and parenthood without losing the directness of the members’ heavier bands.

Recollection mix their hardcore roots with cathartic indie on new single and video "Intrusive Thoughts"

Recollection have announced their new EP, Intrusive Thoughts, out August 28 through DAZE. The four-track release finds the band pulling from their hardcore roots while leaning into a more vulnerable, cathartic indie rock sound, with songs touching on anxiety, finding your place in the modern world, and the changes that come with becoming a parent.

Alongside the announcement, Recollection have shared the EP’s lead single and title track, “Intrusive Thoughts,” featuring guest vocals from Cherish Hynes. Built around candid vocals, repetitive hooks, and jangly melodies, the track digs into self-sabotage and obsessive overthinking inside a relationship.

Speaking on the single, vocalist Josh Hynes says, “‘Intrusive Thoughts’ is about being in a relationship and not being able to avoid self sabotage. Once you have a thought in your head it’s next to impossible to get it out.”

Intrusive Thoughts was produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, with additional tracking by Eric Sauter at Black Heart Sound. The EP is available for preorder now through DAZE.

Recollection Share Transportive New Single “Turntable”

Recollection have released “Turntable,” the latest single from their forthcoming Intrusive Thoughts EP, out August 28 through DAZE.

Rooted in the band’s hardcore background but sharpened by an indie-rock pull, “Turntable” centers on the way a familiar song can suddenly transport you back to a specific person, place, or period of your life. The track balances that nostalgic theme with direct vocals, bright melodies, and an immediately memorable chorus.

“Turntable is about hearing a song that immediately pulls you out of where you’re at and transports you abruptly back to a specific time in your life,” vocalist Josh Hynes explains. “I can still remember those friends and that summer in Manchester when I first heard that song and driving around the city not knowing what the days and nights were going to consist of.”

The four-song Intrusive Thoughts EP was produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, with additional tracking by Eric Sauter at Black Heart Sound. It follows Recollection’s 2025 debut EP, Vivid Dreams, and is available to preorder now through DAZE.
