Unstable Shapes

Unstable Shapes is a Minneapolis-based noise rock and post-hardcore band known for angular guitars, muscular bass riffs, and kinetic drumming. Formed in late 2019, the quintet spent roughly a year and a half rehearsing before playing their first live show to completely dial in their dense, sharp-edged sound. The band crafts heavy, melodic post-punk that pairs screeching feedback with thunderous, rhythm-heavy song structures. They draw heavy inspiration from 90s alternative, math rock, and post-hardcore scenes, citing artists like Fugazi, Unwound, Sonic Youth, Lungfish, and Drive Like Jehu as influences. Debut album "Delicate Machinery" appeared on several Best Of 2025 lists. 2 singles (cover of Deftones' "Dai The Flu" and Rites of Spring's "For Want Of") have been released to benefit non-profits (Oasis For Youth and Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee respectively).
