Watashi Wa Share a Re-Recorded "Look," Revisiting the Closer From 2001's What's in the Way
Watashi Wa have pulled one out of the early catalog. "Look," out today, is a new recording of the song that closed What's in the Way, the band's second album, released on Bettie Rocket in 2001, a couple of years before they landed on Tooth & Nail with The Love of Life.
Seth Roberts wrote it when the band were still teenagers, and it's a song about looking back at where you came from and making room for who you've turned into. Hearing him sing it now, 25 years and a handful of bands later, gives that idea a lot more weight than it had the first time around.
It's not a random pick, either. "Look" has been a regular in the band's set on this year's dates, including the spring run with old Tooth & Nail labelmates Anberlin and Emery, so a proper studio version was probably overdue.
The new recording follows June's "I Am," Watashi Wa's first release with Lost in Ohio and their first new music since 2022's People Like People. Lost in Ohio also gave The Love of Life its first vinyl pressing last year.
