Anatomy of a Brief Romance is Bloc Party’s seventh studio album and their first full-length since 2022’s Alpha Games. Due September 11, 2026 through cOnTAGIOUS LTD, the 14-song record was produced by Trevor Horn and follows the rise and collapse of a relationship in chronological detail.

Kele Okereke has described the material as rooted directly in his own experience, giving the album a narrative shape that moves from attraction and emotional acceleration into distance, conflict and aftermath. That progression is reflected in titles such as “Coming On Strong,” “Love Bombs,” “Worst Birthday Ever,” “Now We Can’t Be Friends” and “Moving On.”

The album reconnects Bloc Party’s taut guitar interplay and propulsive rhythm section with the electronic and dance-driven instincts that have run throughout their catalog. “Coming On Strong” introduced the record’s opening rush, while “Love Bombs” pushed further into the heightened gestures and emotional intensity of a new relationship.
