cut. turn. fade. back.

Hail The Sun, an alternative rock band formed in 2009, is releasing their seventh album, cut. turn. fade. back. The band's music is known for exploring deep, existential themes and encouraging self-reflection.

For this album, they collaborated with the production team Beach Noise, which is best known for their work in the hip-hop world, including with Kendrick Lamar. Despite the different genre backgrounds, the collaboration wasn't as unusual as it sounds, as the band members and Beach Noise had a pre-existing relationship from college.

To record the album, the band returned to their roots, recording live as a full band in a room. While the new producers didn't drastically change the band's genre, they played an active role in shaping the final sound. The album, featuring songs like “The Drooling Class,” “Insensitive Tempo,” and “War Crimes,” is described as a re-establishment of the band's identity with subtle reshaping.

Lead singer Donovan Melero expressed his gratitude for the band's dedicated fanbase and hopes the music encourages critical thinking, even if listeners interpret the songs differently than intended.
