Observer

I've always been a sucker for all things 90s shoegaze-sprinkled alt-rock, and Observer certainly channel those feelings in their new singles "Absent" and "Thoughtful" taken from their forthcoming debut LP. It's clear that Observer has studied its Hum, Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumpkins and Ovlov, while also taking cues from the more recent wave of bands, often referred to as Nu-Gaze. Bands like Nothing and Superheaven brought this sound back to the forefront, and now, a whole crop of lesser known bands like Modern Color, Cursetheknife, Luster, Leaving Time, Gleemer, Fake Eyes, Manu and now Observer are triumphantly combing elements of 90s noisy alternative/indie rock, grunge, emo, shoegaze and post-hardcore meant to be played loud. Give the two new Observer singles a spin if you like this kind of thing. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of this debut LP in full so I can share some more thoughts.
