Sidewave

Dispel is the third full-length from Denver project Sidewave and the culmination of material developed since 2019’s Ultraviolet. Written over several years beginning in 2020, the album arrives October 23, 2026 and finds songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Phil Golyshko returning to the project’s signature mix of heavy layered guitars, soaring melody and expansive atmosphere.

The record repeatedly moves from space, repetition and restraint into dense guitar passages and oversized melodic peaks. Its imagery mirrors that scale: falling, open skies, distant horizons and celestial space blur the line between ascent and escape, with human figures often feeling small against something immense and unknowable.

Golyshko handles guitar, vocals and synths, joined by Brandon Dickert on drums and Matt Russell on bass. Dispel was mixed by Mario Quintero at Audio MQ and mastered by Dereck Blackburn at Quiethouse Recording. First single “Big Whisper” introduces the record with a bright but fuzz-heavy sweep that sits squarely between shoegaze and Sidewave’s long-running Hum/Failure-influenced space-rock sound.
