Strange Birds

Little Victories is the debut full-length from Louisville trio Strange Birds, out September 4, 2026 via Sweet Cheetah Records. The eight-song LP was recorded by the band in their practice space, capturing the songs in the room where they were written rather than sanding down the edges in a traditional studio setting.

Brandon Butler, Ella Lumpkins and original bassist Matt Olson made the record together, with current bassist Brian Meurer now completing the band’s lineup. The album was mastered by Duane Trower at Weights and Measures in Kansas City. Across the record, Strange Birds draw on post-punk, punk and melodic indie rock, with angular guitars, a persistent rhythmic push and a strong DIY sensibility.

Recent singles include “BMX Summer” and “The Old House,” the latter moving between countrified rock and meandering guitar-driven indie rock. The band’s own points of reference around the album include Guided By Voices, Seam and Superchunk.

Physical editions include a limited coke-bottle-clear vinyl pressing and CD, with the band handling much of the release through the same DIY network that shaped the record.
