One listen to their first single "Heartsunk" from their forthcoming LP and I was hooked. This song packs in a lot in under 2 minutes and reminds me of all the things I love about bands like The Menzingers, The Gaslight Anthem, Lawrence Arms, and guitar focused melodic anthemic indie/pop-punk. Once I stumbled across the new single, I knew I wanted to check this album out. Thankfully, the band was nice enough to send me an advance stream of the album which I plan to dig into ASAP, so I can come back and post more thoughts about the complete album. But from a cursory stream of the album, my above description in the press releases is my gut reaction to this album. I hear the influences of Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem) but also hear influences from 90s pop punk bands like Game Face (who always sort of reminded me of a punk version of Gin Blossoms) or Face to Face, and even hear some hints of earlier Goo Goo Dolls in some of the songs. I can tell I'm going to dig this big time and will be spinning this a lot. I don't typically like album streams other then to give me an idea of whether I want to spend more time with the band or the album when it officially drops, and to use it as a means of posting some first impressions. I'm highly confident I will be picking up a copy of this on Friday so I can give it a proper listen in full quality. Hopefully these guys get more exposure because I'm positive that any fans of the bands I've mentioned in the above press release will surely love this stuff. This is definitely a band to look out for.
