Hoodie
By: Trader
Aarhus, Denmark-based indie/alt rock band Trader is set to release their new EP titled 'Hoodie' on May 8, 2026, with the single 'Buddy' serving as the first taste of this upcoming project. The song marks a significant evolution for the band, showcasing a sound that is both energetic and introspective. Recorded at Feedback Studio in Aarhus, 'Buddy' was mixed and produced by the talented duo Christian Askehave and Christian Popp, known as Commotion, who are integral to the local music scene. Musically, 'Buddy' draws inspiration from the raw energy of Weezer’s 'Pinkerton' era while also reflecting the introspective qualities found in the works of American artist Alex G. The lyrics delve into themes of identity and vulnerability, exploring the tension between the façades we present to the world and the truths we often hide. Lines such as 'If I could say it out loud, I’d brush my teeth with lies' poignantly capture the struggle of confronting one’s true self amidst societal pressures. This new single sets the tone for 'Hoodie', a project that promises to blend Trader's signature guitar-fueled indie/alt slacker-rock sound with elements of grunge and pop hooks. Following their sophomore LP 'Their Best Work so Far', released in 2022, Trader continues to evolve while remaining true to their roots, offering listeners a compelling narrative that resonates with the complexities of growing up and self-discovery. 'Hoodie' promises to captivate listeners who enjoy the type of fuzzed out alt rock that would've dominated the radios in the 90s.
