Turnstile will make new fans out of this record, myself included!

I’ll be the first to admit I’m about as late as it gets to the Turnstile fan club. Known for their explosive live shows, one of a kind vocalist, and crafty bass lines, you probably have already caught onto the hype around “Glow On,” the band’s 4th full length.
The second this record starts, we are made aware that something special is going on; it’s as if the clouds in the the album art are made into music. Once it kicks in, one can’t help but put their foot on the ground and start bobbing their head. Insanely catchy hooks are met with an impeccable guitar solo, driving baselines, and stop/start guitars. Just, wow.
To top it off, the vibes and dynamics on this record are all over the place, in the best way. “Underwater Boi” lends itself to a more surf-rocky sound; “Alien Love Call” a spacey, almost R&B sound featuring a very surprising Blood Orange guest vocal; “T.L.C.” a speedy hardcore punk dance jam; “No Surprise” showcases the bass player’s contrasting baritone.
Truly, this band has elevated their sound to the next level. I’m personally grateful the band decided to shake things up on this record, and I think their fan base is going to grow exponentially as a result. To call this a record a contender for album of the year is an understatement. If you haven’t, watch the 11 minute medley of the first few singles they released and if you’re not sold after that, all hope is lost. Long live Turnstile!
