Underlined Passages

A Quiet Condition is the new eight-song album from Baltimore’s Underlined Passages, out September 10, 2026 on Mint 400 Records. The record centers on middle-age invisibility, unfinished ambition and the uncomfortable distance between the life someone imagined and the one that actually arrived.

Where 2025’s The Accelerationists met a loud world head-on, A Quiet Condition turns inward. Michael Nestor’s layered guitars stay vivid but restrained, his vocals sit deeper in the noise, and Roger Stewart’s drums leave room around the songs. The result pulls together shoegaze, bedroom indie rock, post-rock dynamics and emo-era touchstones, with the band pointing toward Nada Surf, American Football and The Promise Ring while also carrying the tension and weight of Deftones, Thursday and Editors.

The album opens with “Afterimage” and closes with first single “Bright Eyes,” moving through songs about loneliness, fading visibility and the embarrassment of still wanting something after years of being told to move on. Even the titles begin to fragment along the way, including “Futr (Bx Mx),” as if the future itself has already lost something.

A Quiet Condition was engineered and recorded by Frank Marchand at Waterford Digital in Pasadena, Maryland in March 2026, with additional recording by Michael Nestor at Basement Tapes from April through May. Alan Douches mastered the record at West West Side Music in July. Nestor performs guitars, vocals and bass, with Roger Stewart on drums and percussion.

The album arrives digitally, on CD and cassette September 10, with vinyl following October 16, 2026. The cover is original digital artwork created without AI.
