On Constant Humming, Good Sleepy sound fully locked in. The Central Massachusetts quartet’s sophomore LP is a clear leap forward from 2021’s everysinglelittlebit, sharpening both songwriting and production into something louder, heavier, and far more confident. Where their debut leaned into atmosphere, this record thrives on momentum—big choruses, tightened riffs, louder guitars, and an emotional immediacy that carries across all 14 tracks.

The singles outline the album’s range well. “TRAP” sets a darker, more volatile tone without losing the band’s emotional core. “ZZZ” is pure catharsis—fast, punchy, and built for movement—turning burnout into release. “LOOMING” offers a melodic counterbalance, pairing bright, indie-leaning hooks with an anxious undercurrent rooted in nostalgia and the grind of modern life.

Standout tracks push things even further. “Eyes Wide Open” is a clear highlight: an aggressive, punchy emo anthem stacked with sharp riffs, sticky melodies, and head-bobbing hooks that feel tailor-made for packed rooms. “745” taps into the twinklier, more atmospheric side of Good Sleepy’s earlier material, but with a newfound confidence and weight that folds seamlessly into the album’s heavier backbone.

Pulling influence from bands like Title Fight, Arm’s Length, Knuckle Puck, and the broader modern emo-punk wave, Constant Humming never feels derivative. Still, the album’s consistency can occasionally work against it—on longer listens, some tracks blur together, making individual moments harder to separate. It’s a minor drawback, and one that feels more like the byproduct of a band settling into its sound than a lack of ideas.

Even so, Constant Humming feels like a turning point. While Good Sleepy may not yet be a household name, this is the record that pushes them beyond local buzz and firmly into the national conversation. They belong in the same sentences as Real Friends, Hot Mulligan, Ben Quad, Charmer, and Arm’s Length—not as imitators, but as part of the new wave helping define the current emo-punk revival. If this album is any indication, Good Sleepy are aiming higher—and they’re ready for it.
