Cleveland indie duo Dogs Run Free have shared “Peace Sign,” the latest single from their debut full-length Heart Beat Temper, out September 18 through Fever Ltd. The track pulls back from some of the band’s more volatile dance-punk energy, pairing bright guitars and synths with a laid-back, late-summer feel and lyrics centered on emotional distance and the difficulty of saying what you really mean.
“This song is about the universal ache of emotional distance between people who love each other but are afraid to be open with their feelings,” the band says. “It’s about hiding what you think or perhaps not being able to say what you think.”
Heart Beat Temper spans nine tracks and moves between angular, guitar-driven indie rock and punchier dance-punk, with touches that should appeal to fans of Japandroids, Bloc Party, Cloud Nothings, and Death From Above 1979.
