Dogs Run Free Announce Debut Album Heart Beat Temper, Share New Single “Energy”

Cleveland duo Dogs Run Free have announced their debut full-length, Heart Beat Temper, due September 18, 2026 through Fever Ltd. The nine-track album was self-recorded by Austyn Benyak and Zac Breitbach, mixed by Adam Cichocki, and mastered by Eric Lagg.

Along with the announcement, the band have shared the new single “Energy,” a cowbell-driven burst of angular guitars, dance-ready punk momentum, and spoken-sung vocals. Dogs Run Free say the track is about “the feeling of wanting more for yourself” and continuing to make music even when the process wears you down.

Heart Beat Temper follows the band’s Weird and Normal EPs and pushes further into their mix of indie rock, punk urgency, and off-kilter melody. Their sound pulls from artists including Bloc Party, The Kills, Beck, Cloud Nothings, Japandroids, and Death From Above 1979. The album also includes previously released tracks “Show Love” and “Sick.”
