MI's 84 Tigers Share Gritty Groove-Heavy New Single “Fathom” from forthcoming LP
Michigan Post-hardcore trio 84 Tigers return with “Fathom,” the latest single from their forthcoming sophomore album Nothing Ends, due October 17 via Spartan Records.“‘Fathom’ started as a random riff at the end of a practice,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Mike Reed. “Discordant, abrasive, and fun. It harkens back to something 90s, in the world of Handsome or Quicksand. It’s about running a marathon.” The track serves as the 3rd single from the forthcoming LP, following the previously released singles "Two Rivers' and "The Crush of it All" all streaming below.
Formed by brothers Mike and Ben Reed (Small Brown Bike) and longtime friend Jono Diener (The Swellers), 84 Tigers first broke through with their 2022 debut Time in the Lighthouse. Their widescreen blend of post-hardcore urgency, ’90s alt-rock grit, and melodic hooks quickly earned critical praise from outlets like BrooklynVegan and No Echo. Keep an eye out for the upcoming LP and be sure to check out the latest singles below. Fans of Small Brown Bike, The Casket Lottery, Her Head's on Fire, Hot Water Music, Quicksand and the like will enjoy this stuff.
84 Tigers share new single “Two Rivers” from forthcoming LP featuring Rocky Votolato
Michigan post-hardcore trio 84 Tigers featuring members of Small Brown Bike and The Swellers return with their soaring new single “Two Rivers” featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Rocky Votolato. The track arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Nothing Ends, due October 17 via Spartan Records, and follows the band’s recent single “The Crush of It All.”
For guitarist/vocalist Mike Reed, the song carries profound emotional weight. “‘Two Rivers’ is a tribute to Travis Dopp (Small Brown Bike). Some of his lyrics are quoted in the song. When Rocky and I realized that we had both written songs with the word ‘River’ in the title separately, it was cosmic fate that brought him into the song. I had no idea what it would become, but he took it to new heights and I still get choked up when I hear it.”
Check out the latest single below, it's an absolute pummeling ripper, both heavy and melodic, and with a hook-filled chorus that fans of Small Brown Bike, The Casket Lottery, Hot Water Music, Seaweed and the like will absolutely love.
