
First Joy
First Joy is an Alternative Rock band formed by childhood friends Jack Ludwick and Jordan Kulp, drawing inspiration from 90’s alt rock stalwarts such as Slowdive, Failure and The Breeders to modern heavyweights such as Gleemer, Downward and 9million, combining elements of emo, grunge and "slowgaze". The LA-based group formed in 2020 and released their first single ‘No Pain’ in 2023. Their EP ‘Unlimited Permanent Bliss’ was released in 2024, featuring production by Marshall Gallagher (Teenage Wrist) and Jason Inguagiato (Belmont).
Following its release, they have appeared on lineups with bands like Prize Horse, Object of Affection, and Touch Girl Apple Blossom. Their self produced debut album ‘There are Ways to Leave’ will be out on June 5th, with new singles ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Little Jokes’ available now.

Influenced by 90s spacey alt rock bands like Failure and Hum, as well as modern emo and grunge bands like Gleemer and Downward, they deliver a captivating blend of nostalgia and modern influences, centered around fuzzy guitars, dark tones, soothing melodies and hook-laden choruses. Formed in 2020 by childhood friends Jack Ludwick and Jordan Kulp, First Joy has already showcased their sound with past releases featuring notable producers and have upcoming singles 'Sometimes' and 'Little Jokes'.
