M83, spearheaded by Anthony Gonzalez, underwent sonic evolution from shoegaze and synth-heavy soundscapes to ambient synth work and lounge-pop with releases like Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (2011) and Junk (2016). In 2023, Fantasy returned to guitar-driven roots with a live band setup, leading up to I Wrote You a Letter set for release on September 25th, 2026, featuring a full band lineup on stage and collaborations with Joe Berry, Clément Libes, and Benoit de Villeneuve.
