Slow Pulp

Slow Pulp are an indie rock four-piece from Madison, Wisconsin, now based in Chicago — Emily Massey (vocals/guitar), Henry Stoehr (guitar), Alex Leeds (bass), and Teddy Mathews (drums). Their hooky, fuzzed-out songs sit somewhere between '90s alt-rock, dream pop, and lo-fi heartbreak, in the lineage of Alvvays and Hovvdy. Their third album, Melodie, arrives September 18, 2026 on ANTI-.

Slow Pulp Share New Single/Video “Not for Nothing” from Forthcoming Album Melodie

Slow Pulp have shared a new single and video, “Not for Nothing,” from their forthcoming third album Melodie, out September 18th via ANTI-.

The track sits near the center of Melodie and strips the band’s sound down to something quietly devastating, pairing guitar, piano, and banjo with Emily Massey’s restrained vocal performance. Written by Henry Stoehr, “Not for Nothing” digs into a period of compounding heartbreak and the feeling of being stuck inside emotions that are difficult to name.

“This song is me just trying to externalize very complex emotions,” Stoehr says, describing it as a song about “feeling stuck,” the way emotions can bleed into daily life, and the heartbreak of life changing in unexpected ways.

The accompanying video, directed by Ben Turok and shot in one take on film, leans into dark, dreamlike imagery while using a live recording of the song. It arrives ahead of Slow Pulp’s biggest North American headline tour this fall, followed by newly announced UK and EU dates in early 2027.
