Michigan's 84 Tigers, the powerhouse post-hardcore / alternartive rock trio featuring members of Small Brown Bike, Able Baker Fox and The Swellers have dropped 3 amazing singles from their forthcoming debut LP titled "Time in the Lighthouse", and trust me when I tell you, this is not a band to sleep on. If you were into the aformentioned bands they originally played in, and and also enjoy the heavy and anthemic post-hardcore of the 90s smothered in loud guitars and big hooks, this band and their new LP is definitely one to look forward to. Fans of Quicksand, Jawbox, Hot Water Music, Casket Lottery, and the like, should all find something to love in these new songs. All three singles released so far have been top notch. "Kingdom of One" starts with a thundering bass line layered with a clean guitar lead before exploding into Mike Reed's trademark vocals and full on guitar distortion, not too different from the type of music he was making with the later period Small Brown Bike material. "Great Basin" kicks right in with a more upbeat and driving rhythm that doesn't let up leading right into a fist in the air anthemic choruse that is sure to have you singing along in no time. And most recently released single "Atlas Fractured" has that classic late 90s post hardcore groove to it, with big loud guitars, and a catchy bounce, sure to keep your head bobbing. Take a listen below and be on the lookout for more comments about their new LP, leading up to the release this fall.
