Auto Locator

Buffalo, NY indie/emo-punk band Del Paxton just announced their sophomore LP titled "Auto Locator", set for release on October 6, 2023 via Topshelf Records. The album follows their excellent 2017 debut LP "All Day, Every Day, All Night" and their 2020 EP "September, Bedtime, Ontario". The band has also unveiled their latest single "Up With A Twist" from the forthcoming LP, with an official video that can be streamed below. On the background of the "Up With a Twist" music video, Del Paxton's Dylan England writes, "We set out to capture a visual of us enjoying our hometown Buffalo via bike, and shot some of the footage on VHS tape. "Up With a Twist" sort of laments the extractive nature of American real estate, and the homogenization of American architecture, specifically nodding to Buffalo's HH Richardson and Olmstead Psych Center, in which they recently installed a "boutique" hotel."

About the new album, Del Paxton recorded their second full length Auto Locator straight to tape over three cloudy days in a solar powered barn, somewhere in New York’s Finger Lakes. Named for the rewind mechanism on the reel to reel tape machine on which the band tracked the album, Auto Locator coils up the chemical trails of ribbon binding old places and head spaces to our consciousness. Static and hiss leach between analog track layers, blurring the normal and paranormal to remind us that no memory is totally separate from a fiction – just like no drum track is totally separate from bass. Over Auto Locator’s ten songs, Del Paxton rip shit like a band entering their second decade of existence. “Up With a Twist,” the album’s lead track, deals in Del Paxton’s crashing punk vibrance, through which the band explores and laments the uninspired architecture of American sprawl.

Be on the lookout for more on this release in the coming months.

Del Paxton channel psychedelic dreams on latest single "Chart Reader"

Sept 6, 2023 - Del Paxton just dropped "Chart Reader" the second single from their upcoming record, Auto Locator, out October 6, 2023 via Topshelf Records, which can be streamed below. The new single, whose origins trace back to a psychedelic dream inspired by Wayfaring Strangers: Cosmic American Music, sees the trio dabbling in emo Americana, even featuring a nod to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Such unashamed references abound throughout Auto Locator, which takes further inspiration from bands like Mock Orange, Third Eye Blind, and Jimmy Eat World, all of whose influence is clear on other yet to be released songs from the forthcoming LP, namely “Palpitations” and upcoming third single “Spiritual Gymnastics” which will drop sometime before the album release. Check out the full album announcement and press release below, along with the previously released single "Up with a twist" also appearing on the forthcoming LP.

Del Paxton share "Spiritual Gymnastics" from their upcoming record, Auto Locator, out October 6

Del Paxton have just released their 3rd single "Spiritual Gymnastics" from their forthcoming LP 'Auto Locater'. This is my favorite of the bunch so far with its 90s mid-western emo flare, technical guitar riff and bouncy rhythm, this song is an ear worm that brings to mind bands like Mock Orange, Braid, and Into it. Over It. Stream the new single below.
