Grey
By: Held.
Held., the trio featuring both Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano of The Sleeping and Josh Eppard from Coheed And Cambria, release their debut album, GREY, on May 15 via MNRK Heavy. The album is described as both fresh and fully realized, positioning these creative veterans as tornado chasers, ripping and tearing through an urgent, volatile, and surprising sonic storm. The introduction to the band arrives with 'NEW YOU ANTHEM,' featuring My Chemical Romance’s Frank Iero, which serves as a powerful anthem about love and survival.
Vocalist Douglas Robinson shares that he wrote the song as a therapeutic expression for those who feel down, encapsulating various forms of love throughout the lyrics. Iero reflects on his connection with the band, expressing admiration for Robinson's voice and songwriting, and how working with Held. opened new creative doors for him. The trio's collaboration was serendipitous, having first played together in Woodstock, a town known for its rich musical history.
Produced and mixed by Jon Markson, GREY was recorded at the Animal Farm in Flemington, N.J., a location that provided an inspiring energy for the band. Mignano notes the special experience of working with Markson, highlighting his creative prowess and the seamless atmosphere at the studio. The album promises to showcase the band's unique sound and artistic vision, making it a highly anticipated release for fans and critics alike.
