Everything
By: Lozenge
Lozenge is set to release their sophomore EP, Everything, on May 29, 2026. This new collection follows their debut EP, Blink Into Nothing, released in 2024. The band has compiled their 2026 run of singles into this second release, which includes the three previously released singles Silver, For Lack of Trying, and Bird's-Eye View, along with the yet to be released title track and EP closer. With Everything, Lozenge demonstrates a growing maturity in their sound, featuring more complex arrangements and heavier themes that allow for greater emotional depth. The title track, Everything, represents the band's most ambitious effort to date, tackling the burdens of modern existence with a powerful chorus that resonates deeply. Joe Collinson, the band's frontman, reflects on the pervasive influence of capitalism and currency in our lives, likening their experience to floating around a black hole before inevitably crossing the event horizon. The song encapsulates feelings of powerlessness in a world dominated by financial concerns, a sentiment that Collinson articulates poignantly: "Everything is about realizing how totally money is ingrained into every facet of society, and how powerless that can make you feel sometimes. I wrote this at a time when I was cosmically overwhelmed by the world and felt like I could see my life flashing before me." Everything will be available on CD through the band's Bandcamp page, featuring artwork, design, and photography created by the band themselves. Lozenge, hailing from Leeds, UK, is a nu-gaze/shoegaze trio known for their unique blend of distorted, fuzzed-out guitars and introspective soothing vocals, crafting a "heavenly heaviness" and drawing from influences in 90s guitar fueled alternative rock, dream pop, shoegaze, and post-grunge. The band creates music that will resonate with fans of bands like Swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine, The Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana, while appealing to more contemporary bands like Narrow Head, Trauma Ray, Whirr, Glare, Nothing and the like. The lineup includes Joe Collinson on vocals and guitar, Jacob Marston on drums, and Joe Clarke on bass, who joined in 2026. They have been active in the UK music scene since 2024 since releasing their debut single "Interloper" which appeared on their 2024 debut EP "For Lack of Trying" which is worth checking out while waiting on their new EP.
