Moral Injury

Moral Injury is In Parallel’s (featuring members of Hopesfall, Celebrity) first release since 2020’s Fashioner and their debut for Mind Over Matter Records. Due November 20, 2026, the three-song EP brings their moody, dense, and dark atmospheric rock approach to subjects close to home: gun violence, political unease and the feeling of losing your footing in the world around you.

The band booked studio time without a fixed agenda and wrote and recorded the songs over a weekend. A school shooting in guitarist Ryan Parrish’s Tennessee neighborhood deeply informed the record’s musical and lyrical direction.

Opening track and lead single “Carson Lore” introduces that focus. “This song reflects our feelings about the political nature of gun violence in America,” the band explains. Its title comes from the pen name Lance Black’s father used for his school newspaper; Black adopted it because he couldn’t stomach singing an actual politician’s name.

“Darkened Room” and “Umbra” complete the EP. Vinyl preorders are available, with a portion of each record sold benefiting Safer TN, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing gun violence in Tennessee.

In Parallel Announce Moral Injury EP, Share “Carson Lore”

November 3, 2026

Nashville’s In Parallel, featuring members of Celebrity and Hopesfall, have announced Moral Injury, a three-song EP due November 20 through Mind Over Matter Records. Lead single “Carson Lore” is out now alongside its official video, which you can watch below.

Written and recorded over the course of a weekend, the EP grew out of the band reconnecting in the studio, with a horrific school shooting in guitarist Ryan Parrish’s Tennessee neighborhood shaping its themes. Their moody, dense, melodic atmospheric rock provides the backdrop for a direct response to gun violence and the political climate surrounding it.

“This song reflects our feelings about the political nature of gun violence in America,” the band says of “Carson Lore.” As an aside, ‘Carson Lore’ was the pen name singer/guitarist Lance Black’s father used to write articles for his school’s newspaper. Black says he used that name in this song because he couldn’t stomach singing an actual politician’s name.

Across 3 songs, The EP pairs brooding space rock, shoegaze, and melodic dark wave with lush atmosphere, expansive guitars, haunting melodies and hooks that linger.

Moral Injury follows 2020’s Fashioner. Vinyl preorders are available, and a portion of each record sold will benefit Safer TN. Watch “Carson Lore” below and visit our EP coverage page for the full tracklist.
