Northlane

Announced August 4, 2026, Anemoia is Northlane's seventh studio album and the follow-up to Obsidian, the 2022 record that went to No. 1. It lands October 30, released independently through Immortal Music Group and announced alongside new single "CUT_it."

The album takes its name from nostalgia for a time or place you've never actually known, and the band builds the whole record on that tension. First single "Evian" coasts on the borrowed freedom of an era Northlane only know secondhand; when the present day breaks back in, the album turns as heavy as anything they've cut since their first EP.

Jordan Fish executive produced. The concept traces back to a set from UK producer and DJ Evian Christ, which sent songwriter/guitarist Jon Deiley looking for ways to fold trance — its emotional intensity, its physical scale — into guitars and the catharsis of heavy music. What came out shifts constantly across the record: seismic breakdowns, drum-and-bass, jungle, pop, all still recognisably Northlane's electronic metal.

"CUT_it," the album's second track, is the burnout song. Marcus Bridge works a lower, more menacing part of his range over a low-end groove that bows under the weight before the track erupts. "CUT_it is about burnout - the feeling of grinding through things when you're completely spent, mentally and physically," Bridge says. "The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analysing it."

For a band fifteen years and more than 500 million streams into a career spent staring down technological anxiety, alienation and collapse, the surprise here is the tone. This is the most hopeful and human thing they've made. As Bridge puts it: "There's darkness here, but it's not nihilism - and there's hope, but it's not naivety."
