Senior Living – existential, sudden dread (Out June 19)

Existential, sudden dread is a six-song EP by Albany, NY band Senior Living that blends shoegaze, post-hardcore, alternative rock, and punk-leaning songwriting into a focused exploration of guilt, addiction, accountability, relief, and acceptance. Written and recorded over the past three years, the project captures a period of uncertainty and personal growth and the often existential weight of entering early adulthood.

Across the project, Senior Living moves between towering, hyper walls of sound and intimate, reflective moments. Tracks like “oasis” examine the challenge of maintaining a meaningful work-life balance, while “flower shielding” confronts the emotional weight of faking smiles to make it through anxious situations. While “in this” centers around the exhaustion of a crumbling relationship through dynamic tempo shifts and explosive riffs, and “juulia child” pairing infectious pop energy with hazy shoegaze textures to tackle addiction, self-sabotage, and personal accountability.

Drawing influence from bands like Title Fight, Fleshwater, Nothing, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Gleemer, the EP balances melody and aggression while maintaining a distinct emotional sincerity. Several tracks have already become staples of the band’s live set, building anticipation among our growing fanbase.

Existential, Sudden Dread is Senior Living’s most focused and complete release to date—a collection of songs about confronting uncomfortable truths, finding clarity in chaos, and learning how to move forward.
