Needle & Thread
Skeever
May 18, 2024Philadelphia, PA self-proclaimed "Slacker Gaze" band Skeever, and what they refer to as a combination of slacker rock and shoegaze, are gearing up to release their sister companion EP to their debut EP released in 2023. The new EP will be called Needle & Thread, and is set to release on May 18, 2024, containing 4 brand new tracks, of which the first two singles are streaming below. On the new EP, the band hearken back to the days of 90s shoegaze, guitar heavy and grungy altrock and melodic fuzzed out indiepop, fitting right in with the current scene's fresh take on the sound. Melodically whirring as if on a sonic joyride to illuminate a petroleum spirit daze, Skeever pulls from the defining influences that have come before them. With inspiration from bands like Swervedriver, Hum, Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumpkins and Ovlov, along with more current influences like Narrow Head and Hotline TNT, there is no shortage of soaring high-octane riffs and walls of guitars with big melodies, that glide throughout their discography and especially the new EP.
Skeever released their first EP “Daisy Chain” in October 2023, and continue to strive towards defining the genre with their sister EP “Needle & Thread” so be sure to stream the EP when it drops on May 18th, and in the meantime, you should check out their debut EP which is also streaming below. All the songs on both EPs were recorded live at Jamtown Recording Studio in Philadelphia, mixed by Chris Baglivo, and mastered by Ian Farmer. The band has progressed into experimentation with drop tunings and new effects to compliment their songwriting process, with intentions of paying homage while staying true to their own sound.
