Teenage Wrist Surprise Release New EP A Different Shine

Teenage Wrist, one of our favorite bands here at Release Wave and one of the forebears of modern day grungegaze, just surprise-dropped A Different Shine via Epitaph. It’s their first new music since 2023’s Still Love, and Failure’s Ken Andrews produced and mixed all three songs.

You can hear Failure’s influence in the off-kilter harmonies and fuzzed-out space rock of “Twist My Tongue.” From the heavy groove of “Wishing Well” to the dreamy melodies and crashing drums of “Don’t Mind,” it’s still got those big Teenage Wrist guitars, monster hooks and melodies that stick.

Ken Andrews’ (Failure) production really shines, and you can hear Marshall pushing his songwriting and Anthony finding different ways to drive each song. All three hit differently, but that chorus on “Don’t Mind” is the one I’ll have stuck in my head for days.

Stream all three songs below.
