Despire are a four-piece grungegaze band from Vacaville, California, formed in 2026 by Wesson Markowski (rhythm guitar/vocals), Jeremiah Denis (lead guitar), Jesse Broyles (bass), and Jack Roberts (drums). The band writes together in a garage, building songs around prominent guitar leads, wide distorted guitars, atmospheric vocals, and hard-hitting choruses.
Their sound sits between grungegaze, shoegaze, and alternative rock, with clear touchstones including Fleshwater, Narrow Head, Downward, Trauma Ray, Glare, Title Fight, Superheaven, and Deftones. Their debut self-titled EP arrived August 14, 2026 as a DIY introduction to the band and their heavier take on guitar-driven alternative music.

Written together in the band's garage and released DIY, the EP is an impressive first showing from a teenage band with plenty of potential. It’s also good to see another generation of kids embracing loud guitars again.
