Formed in Glasgow in 1989, Teenage Fanclub built a lasting catalog around melodic guitars, close harmonies, and the complementary songwriting of Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley. Their music draws from classic guitar pop and power pop while retaining the warmth and emotional directness heard across records including Bandwagonesque, Grand Prix, and Songs From Northern Britain.
The current lineup pairs Blake and McGinley with longtime members Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald, and David McGowan. Rather than entering the studio with rigid arrangements, the group lets each song take shape collectively, preserving the natural interplay that comes from years of playing together.
Teenage Fanclub’s thirteenth studio album, Do Not Dare To Dream, arrives October 9, 2026 through Merge Records. Recorded at Black Bay Studio on the remote Scottish island of Great Bernera, the album follows 2023’s Nothing Lasts Forever and continues the band’s blend of reflective writing, interwoven guitars, acoustic textures, organ, and understated optimism. Lead single “Day In The Sun” is a melodic reflection on renewal and shifting perspective.
