Hillsboro

this is me if i was you

Hillsboro will release this is me if i was you on November 13, 2026 via their own label, play dead. The three-track EP follows A Party in Your Name, released earlier in 2026, and brings the Vancouver band’s live energy into songs about fractured relationships, grief, and breaking destructive patterns.

Recorded at The Hive in Victoria, British Columbia with producer Colin Stewart, the EP draws from emo, alternative rock, lo-fi folk, and electronic music. Dissonant guitars, melodic passages, blown-out drum breaks, and layered textures serve a direct emotional approach. “We are all producers and very detail-oriented, but we believe music should have an immediacy that hits your nervous system before anything else,” the band explains. “If something is in the way of that, it needs to go.”

Lead single “My God” pairs interlocking guitars and a steady groove with an emotionally charged chorus. Nima Walker describes it as a song about vulnerability after a relationship ends and the urge to clear space for a different life. Recording it quickly, without time to overthink, helped establish the band’s new creative direction.

The EP also includes “Don’t (wait)” and “The sky reminds me of you now, pt. 2 (feat. mieke?).” Across the record, personal upheaval is met with the support of the friendships that hold the band together.

Hillsboro Announce New EP this is me if i was you, Share “My God”

October 14, 2026

Vancouver band Hillsboro have announced their new EP, this is me if i was you, arriving November 13, 2026 via their own label, play dead. Lead single “My God” is out now alongside a music video, which you can watch below.

Following this year’s A Party in Your Name, the three-track EP was recorded with Colin Stewart at The Hive in Victoria, British Columbia. It brings together emo, alternative rock, lo-fi folk, and electronic textures in songs about relationships coming apart, grief, and the friendships that help people through both.

“My God” builds from interlocking guitars and a steady groove into an emotionally charged chorus. “This song is about being in a vulnerable state at the end of a relationship, where you’re sort of quietly bewildered by what you’ve just been through, and you feel willing to destroy whatever is necessary to make space for a new way of being,” vocalist and guitarist Nima Walker explains. “It was our first time allowing ourselves to record a song quickly without leaving time to overthink, which defined the new direction our creative process is going in.”
