This Mirror Weighs a Ton

This Mirror Weighs a Ton is the eighth studio album by New York post-punk legends Interpol, and their debut release for Partisan Records. Out August 28, 2026, it follows 2022's The Other Side of Make-Believe and marks the band's most expansive sonic statement yet. Produced by Andrew Wyatt (Rosalía, Charli XCX) and mixed by David Fridmann (MGMT, Sleater-Kinney), the album was recorded in Manhattan's Lower East Side — the first time Interpol have cut a record in their hometown in over a decade. Themes of reflection, perception, and emotional tension run through the record, with the album title emerging directly from singer Paul Banks' improvisational vocal process. Alongside their signature guitar-forward sound, the album features an expanded palette including woodwinds, layered vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, and experimental sound design.

Interpol Release New Album This Mirror Weighs a Ton

August 28, 2026

Interpol have released their eighth studio album, This Mirror Weighs a Ton, out today via Partisan Records.

It may be their best work since Our Love to Admire. Across twelve tracks, Interpol tap into nearly every side of what has made them so enduring — from ethereal, hazy new wave and post-punk atmospheres to driving, rhythmic songs pushed forward by tense guitars and bass-heavy momentum. There are plenty of familiar shadows here, but the record feels focused rather than nostalgic, with Andrew Wyatt's production adding extra space, texture and subtle orchestral touches around the band's unmistakable core sound.

For longtime fans, This Mirror Weighs a Ton feels like one of those records that gathers the best parts of Interpol into one place without simply retracing old ground.
