Modern Daze

Phantom Memory is the debut full-length from Tacoma, Washington's Modern Daze, arriving digitally August 28, 2026. Across eight songs, the band pushes dreamy, melodic shoegaze into a thicker guitar-driven alternative rock sound, with Midwest emo-style guitar lines winding through dense distortion and heavier grungegaze textures.

The album was recorded at home in Tacoma in guitarist/vocalist Zac White's living room by White, bassist Chris Defalco, and drummer Walker Janelle. Tyler Mays mixed and mastered the record. Sonically, Phantom Memory sits between the hazy weight of DIIV, Whirr, and Nothing, the emo-driven guitar work and emotional pull of Downward and Seer Believer, and the grungier, heavier edge of Soul Blind, while also sharing ground with Modern Color and Glimmer.

Phantom Memory also marks a transition for Modern Daze. After beginning as a three-piece, the band has expanded to a five-piece with guitarists Tyler Parsons and Curtis Sullivan joining White, Defalco, and Janelle. Following the LP, Modern Daze plans to tour more regularly and begin writing new material together as the full five-piece lineup.

The band will celebrate the digital release with a September 19 show at BASECAMP SEA alongside Bazzar, Attack Dog, and Summer of Peril, presented by MilkyCo Productions. Vinyl is currently being pressed, with pre-orders expected soon and a physical release show planned for late October or early November.
