Sleepwalk

View From The Outside

Five years after their last full-length, Chicago’s Sleepwalk return with View From The Outside, their fourth album and first for MNRK. The ten-song record sharpens the band’s mix of shoegaze, ’90s alternative rock and post-hardcore, pairing Ryan Davis’s wistful vocals with chiming, saturated guitars, hard-hitting rhythms and a wider sonic range that stretches from heavier rock to dreamier passages and touches of trip-hop.

View From The Outside was tracked over twelve days at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois, the studio of Hum guitarist/vocalist Matt Talbott, and reunites Sleepwalk with producer Zac Montez (Whirr, Cloakroom), who also worked on Underneath The Shade. The album balances the band’s gloomier, more aggressive side with hooks and a more personal, experimental second half. Lead single “Sandbox” serves as a bridge between old and new Sleepwalk, moving from clean-guitar verses into saturated hooks with screamed backing vocals from guitarist Tyler Gargula.

RIYL: Whirr, Nothing, Hum, Failure, Quicksand, Narrow Head, The Smashing Pumpkins

The album arrives November 13, 2026 via MNRK.

Sleepwalk share new single “Jan 22” from View From The Outside

October 6, 2026

Chicago’s Sleepwalk have shared “Jan 22,” the latest single from View From The Outside, out November 13 via MNRK Heavy. The track brings a softer, dream-pop pull to the band’s mix of shoegaze, ’90s alternative rock and post-hardcore, with shimmering guitars and hazy vocal melodies sitting over a dense rhythm section.

Ryan Davis calls the song a love letter to winter in the city and a broader celebration of life. Written during a snowy walk home from band practice, it finds Sleepwalk leaning into the more atmospheric side of a record tracked at Hum guitarist/vocalist Matt Talbott’s Earth Analog studio with producer Zac Montez.

Sleepwalk Announce New Album View From The Outside, Share Lead Single “Sandbox”

September 8, 2026

Chicago shoegazers Sleepwalk have announced their fourth album, View From The Outside, due November 13 via MNRK Heavy, and shared the record’s lead single, “Sandbox.” The ten-song LP arrives five years after the band’s last full-length and finds Sleepwalk pushing their shoegaze and ’90s alternative rock foundation further into post-hardcore, with touchstones including Hum, Failure and Quicksand.

“Sandbox” makes a strong first introduction to that next chapter, moving from cleaner, textured verses into thick, saturated guitars and a driving chorus, with screamed backing vocals from guitarist Tyler Gargula. Vocalist/guitarist Ryan Davis says the song addresses the normalization of conspiracy-theory thinking and his frustration with the current political climate.

View From The Outside was tracked over twelve days at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois, the studio of Hum guitarist/vocalist Matt Talbott, with producer Zac Montez (Whirr, Cloakroom), who previously worked with Sleepwalk on Underneath The Shade. According to the band, the new record expands their palette with heavier rock, dreamier passages and even touches of trip-hop while keeping the hooks, atmosphere and raw emotion at the center.

Sleepwalk will also support the album with U.S. dates beginning November 12 in Chicago and continuing through December with stops in Texas and California. Watch “Sandbox” below and check out the full album details, track listing and pre-save information on the View From The Outside release page.
