Spanish Love Songs

Future Nausea

Future Nausea is the fifth full-length from Spanish Love Songs, out November 6, 2026 via Pure Noise Records. Produced by Chris Walla and Sarah Tudzin, the album pushes the Los Angeles band toward a bigger, widescreen rock sound built from shimmering keyboards, ringing guitars, driving rhythms and huge choruses.

The record takes the scale and sweep of heartland rock and turns it toward the present instead of nostalgia, pairing major-key lift with Dylan Slocum’s writing about political violence, late-stage capitalism, isolation and the uncertainty of what comes next. Slocum has described the goal as making the band’s version of a big rock record while making the lyrics “more angry than sad.”

Lead single “Good American” establishes that tension immediately. The song is intentionally minimal and loud, riding a rolling bassline and four-on-the-floor pulse while Slocum delivers one of the angriest songs he says he has written. Across the rest of the album, tracks such as “New Fears,” “Doom Tripping” and “Until the Sun Explodes” keep pushing between anxiety and release, with the latter half of the record finding a faint but real sense of optimism in community.

Spanish Love Songs Share “Welcome To Hell” From Forthcoming Album Future Nausea

October 22, 2026

Spanish Love Songs have released “Welcome To Hell,” the latest single from Future Nausea, out November 6, 2026 via Pure Noise Records. Produced by Chris Walla and Sarah Tudzin, the album finds the band expanding their sound, with the self-described bar-band rock of “Welcome To Hell” offering another glimpse of that direction.

The song takes aim at cynicism, corporate tech power and the ease with which convenience can turn into apathy. Dylan Slocum wanted it to relieve some of the album’s thematic pressure while keeping its politics rooted in people trying to get through everyday life.

“I wanted a song that could thematically relieve the pressure of the album. There's a narrow line to walk when writing a song that is even vaguely political, and I always want to make sure we don't fall into finger-wagging. We're telling stories about people fighting their way through life, not prescribing any absolute sort of answer,” Slocum explains.

“The song starts with someone like me and is an attack on cynicism. Then it moves on to the changes being forced down our throats by techno-oligarchs in the name of profit, and wraps up questioning whether all of us are settling for a worse world in the name of convenience, or worse, apathy.”

Slocum also credits Walla with encouraging the band to move beyond familiar production choices and commit more clearly to their ideas—an approach he says helped them find their strongest version of the band yet.

Spanish Love Songs Share New Single “Doom Tripping”

September 30, 2026

Spanish Love Songs have released “Doom Tripping,” the latest single from their forthcoming album Future Nausea, out November 6 via Pure Noise Records.

Produced by Chris Walla and Sarah Tudzin, the track pushes the band toward a shimmering, widescreen pop-rock sound without losing the anxious emotional core that runs through the record. Dylan Slocum describes the song as an attempt to capture what it feels like inside his head right now, turning surreal day-to-day moments and physical disorientation into something ultimately about refusing to give up.

Spanish Love Songs announce new album Future Nausea, share “Good American”

September 2, 2026

Spanish Love Songs have announced their fifth full-length, Future Nausea, arriving November 6 via Pure Noise Records. Produced by former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla alongside Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties, the record finds the band pushing their heart-on-sleeve punk and emo roots toward something bigger and more widescreen.

Rather than leaning into the nostalgia often associated with heartland rock, Future Nausea turns that sound toward an increasingly uncertain present. Shimmering synths, ringing guitars, driving rhythms and huge choruses provide the backdrop for Dylan Slocum’s writing on political violence, late-stage capitalism, isolation and trying to find some reason to keep moving forward.

“When I first sat down to work on the record, I basically told everybody I just wanted to make a big rock record,” Slocum says, adding that he wanted the album to be “more angry than sad.”

That comes through immediately on lead single “Good American,” a driving, stripped-down rocker that Slocum calls “maybe the angriest song I’ve ever written.” The band intentionally kept the recording minimal and loud, with a rolling bassline and four-on-the-floor pulse giving it the kind of shout-along urgency Spanish Love Songs do so well.

Future Nausea is out November 6 via Pure Noise Records. Check out “Good American” below.
